Thirteen Kenyan teams have confirmed their participation in the upcoming regional Dolphins Junior Swimming Championships set for 13-14 April in Kampala, Uganda.
The championships, set to attract over 600 aquatic athletes aged below 11 years from across Zone 3, have so far drawn international contenders alongside Kenya including hosts Uganda and Rwanda.

The goal for the event - which will be sponsored by the Uganda Swimming Federation - will be to act as a crucial springboard for burgeoning swimmers with eyes on global accolades.
Leading the team will be PIPSSA Kenya Coordinator Mark Gaya, who on Wednesday reiterated the need for Kenya to test its young swimmers with their peers from across the region, so as to remain competitive.
Kenya is also set to later this month send out a group of swimmers for the Africa Swimming Championships in Angola, to chase tickets to the Paris Olympic Games.
“This championship has been a notable event showcasing the talents of young swimmers and plays a crucial role in the development of swimming in the region,” Tony Kasujja, the championship's overseer and also Vice President of USF said. “Our goal is to provide a competitive yet nurturing environment for young athletes to develop their skills and passion for the sport.”
Some of the Ugandan teams that have also confirmed their participation include: Kampala Aquatics, Silverfin, Makerere Aquatics, Gliders, Seals, Dolphins (hosts) and Gators.
Furthermore, the championship will be supported by various sponsors including Genesis Sports Limited, a sports apparel and equipment shop in Nairobi, indicating the growing interest and investment in nurturing young sports talents in the region.
